The Effects of Social Capital on Chinese Consumers’ Online Impulse Buying in Social Commerce Environment
The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of social capital including social interaction shared language and trust on Chinese consumer online impulse buying in social commerce platforms To verify the hypothesis we surveyed the Chinese customers who have buying experiences of using social commerce by snowball sampling technique After analyzing 548 valid data we confirmed that three dimensions of social capital social interaction shared language and trust positively affects both peer intrinsic motivation and peer extrinsic motivation In addition peer motivation exerts a positively impact on consumer impulse purchases on social commerce The findings not only provide a new theoretical perspective for studying consumers impulse buying behavior in theory but also have important implications for the online sellers in their follower s groups to improve online marketin

Failure by Simultaneous Grain Growth, Strain Localization, and Interface Debonding in Metal Films on Polymer Substrates
In a previous paper, we have demonstrated that a microcrystalline copper film well bonded to a polymer substrate can be stretched beyond 50% without cracking. The film eventually fails through the co-evolution of necking and debonding from the substrate. Here we report much lower strains to failure (around 10%) for polymer-supported nanocrystalline metal films, whose microstructure is revealed to be unstable under mechanical loading. We find that strain localization and deformation-associated grain growth facilitate each other, resulting in an unstable deformation process. Film/substrate delamination can be found wherever strain localization occurs. We therefore propose that three concomitant mechanisms are responsible for the failure of a plastically deformable but microstructurally unstable thin metal film: strain localization at large grains, deformation-induced grain growth and film debonding from the substrate.Engineering and Applied Science
Charge localization instability in a highly deformable dielectric elastomer
This paper shows that a highly deformable capacitor made of a soft dielectric and two conformal electrodes can switch between two states discontinuously, by a first-order transition, as the total charge varies gradually. When the total charge is small, it spreads evenly over the area of the capacitor, and the capacitor deforms homogeneously. When the total charge is large, it localizes in a small region of the capacitor, and this region thins down preferentially. The capacitor will survive the localization without electrical breakdown if the area of the electrode is small. Such a bistable system may lead to useful devices.Engineering and Applied Science

Highly deformable actuators made of dielectric elastomers clamped by rigid rings
In the nascent field of soft machines, soft materials are used to create devices that actuate robots, sense environment, monitor health, and harvest energy. The soft materials undergo large deformation in response to external stimuli, often leading to instability that is usually undesirable but sometimes useful. Here, we study a dielectric elastomer membrane sandwiched between two soft conductors, rolled into a hollow tube, pre-stretched in the hoop direction, and fixed at the ends of the tube to two rigid rings. This structure functions as an electromechanical transducer when the two rings are subject to a mechanical force and the two conductors are subject to an electrical voltage. We formulate a computational model by using a variational principle and calculate the large and inhomogeneous deformation by solving a nonlinear boundary-value problem. We demonstrate that large actuation strains are achievable when the height-to-radius ratio of the tube is small and the hoop pre-stretch is large. The model provides a tool to analyze various modes of instability and optimize the electromechanical performance.Engineering and Applied Science

Islands stretch test for measuring the interfacial fracture energy between a hard film and a soft substrate
We present a technique for measuring the interfacial fracture energy, , between a hard thin film and a soft substrate. A periodic array of hard thin islands is fabricated on a soft substrate, which is then subjected to uniaxial tension under an optical microscope. When the applied strain reaches a critical value, delamination between the islands and the substrate starts from the edge of the islands. As the strain is increased, the interfacial cracks grow in a stable fashion. At a given applied strain, the width of the delaminated region is a unique function of the interfacial fracture energy. We have calculated the energy release rate driving the delamination as a function of delamination width, island size, island thickness, and applied strain. For a given materials system, this relationship allows determination of the interfacial fracture energy from a measurement of the delamination width. The technique is demonstrated by measuring the interfacial fracture energy of plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition SiNx islands on a polyimide substrate. We anticipate that this technique will find application in the flexible electronics industry where hard islands on soft substrates are a common architecture to protect active devices from fracture.Engineering and Applied Science
FACTORS AFFECTING THE WILLINGNESS OF CHINESE USERS TO CONTINUE USING ONLINE EDUCATION PLATFORMS IN YUNNAN
This research examines the main factors such as platform system quality, course quality, and user interaction influencing users' continuous use intention on the online education platform from the user experience and perceived value perspective. Data was collected through the convenience approach via online survey questionnaires from 422 Yunnan respondents who had a prior online learning experience, including both elementary and higher education level courses, within the past year on an online education platform in China. Yunnan is located at the border of southwest China, where education is costly and inefficient. Data are tested against the research model by using structural equation modeling. The results indicate that user-perceived value will significantly impact users' willingness to continue using online education platforms. Furthermore, users' functional experience and emotional experience have a positive impact on perceived profit, while they have a negative effect on perceived loss. In addition, the quality of the platform system affects users' functional experience and emotional experiences.
